Free Bike Commuter Class and Women's Night This Wednesday

With winter around the corner the cold weather seems to sneak in and full fingered gloves and layers become the norm. Learn how to dress yourself and your bike for winter bike commuting at the free Smart Trips Bicycle Commuting in Cold Weather Class at Rowland Hall, 970 East 800 South, on Wednesday, September 5, from 7-8 pm. Learn how to keep your bike working efficiently and your body warm and dry. Topics will include safety strategies, equipment, route selection, and winter riding techniques. Everyone in attendance will be entered to win a frame pump and patch kits.

Smart Trips will also be sponsoring a Free Bike Maintenance Class, next Tuesday, September 11th, 7– 8 p.m. at Beehive Bicycles (1510 South 1500 East) Whether your bike needs a tune after a full summer of riding or you want to dust off the bike that you’ve been keeping in storage, it’s always a good idea to do some basic maintenance. Stop by Salt Lake City’s newest bike shop, Beehive Bicycles, and learn how to change a flat tire, replace a chain, adjust your brakes, and other basic maintenance techniques. Bring along your bike and your questions.

If have time to fit two things in your schedule Wednesday night and want to work on your bike, head over to the Salt Lake Bike Collective and give your bike a little TLC during Women's Wrench Night with the help of a trained female staff that can steer you in the right direction with your bike. Women's Night runs 5:30-9:00pm at the Bike Collective on 2312 S. West Temple. Women are invited to volunteer or work on their own bikes during Women's Night.

Hi! Any word on when the next Tweed Ride might be? Tweed and fall go so well together and the city is so nice this time of year on a bike.
