After months of planning, design, and public outreach and comment, Salt Lake City will begin construction of the 300 East Cycle Track tomorrow, Wednesday (6/13). The road will be resurfaced this week and the new design (outlined and pictured below) painted and finished before next week's Arts Festival.
Funding for the 300 East Cycle Track came from a grant from
Bikes Belong, which the Transportation Division
won earlier this year. The grant is aimed to assist experimental and pilot designs to allow cities across the country to try new designs that will fit their circumstances and ridership.
Keep an eye out for possible road closures or restrictions during construction, find out more about the project at
www.bikeslc.com, take the City's survey when it goes live in about a month, and enjoy the new bike infrastructure!
SLC Transportation would love to know what you think about the project, and will be providing a phone number to call to leave comments, suggestions, and any issues with the cycle track. We'll see you on the roads.
Nice. We deserve it. Too many years playing with the cars driving too fast. A little separation might be just what we need.
