A blogging dad who writes on BrooklynSpoke.com shares photos and stories from a ride with her daughter in Amsterdam. The best part? The photos were taken by the daughter and show a child's view from the front of a bakfiets. Wonderful photos and a great story. One commenter said, "I get tears in my eyes to see my own country by your daughter's eyes." The full set of photos is found here on Flickr. What a wonderful thing it is to see the world by bicycle through the eyes of a child.

According to The Star, a Toronto, Canada news source, London Mayor Boris Johnson (who looks strangely like Gary Busey) says that bikes civilize cities, citing that "bicycles put the village back in the city." Read more about Johnson's remarks and his recent visit to North America here.

Cycling news sources reported yesterday that George Hincapie, the 38 year old pro tour veteran, will retire this year after he competes in two more professional races, including his record breaking 17th Tour de France. Hincapie, a professional cyclist since 1994, has ridden for and on teams with cycling legends such as Lance Armstrong, Alberto Contador and Cadel Evans, among others. Read more about Hincapie's retirement here.
