Changing seasons and changing habits

The temperatures have continued to drop, with today being in the high 70s in most of Salt Lake City. With the change in temperature comes a change in our cycling habits. Winds can blow harder in the mornings and evenings, the sun rises later and sets earlier. With these natural changes we, as cyclists, must adapt.

What have you been doing to have a comfortable commute, group ride, or downhill run? Share your insights from years past as well as what works for you now.

  1. I'm gearing up for winter commuting, and its important to remember that if you're warm enough when you start your ride, you're going to be sweating buckets in about 5 minutes.

Its time to start ordering thicker tires for my road bike, and dusting off those fenders. And, as always, bright bike lights front and back.

  2. I switched to commuting in skirts to pants yesterday. Wah, I love biking in skirts. Still, the temperatures are fantastic right now and the extra headwind on the uphills is good for me!
