A look at the team's jersey (above) and bib shorts (below) for the 2012 season |
Weird, right? A competitive roadie team for a group/blog that promotes cycling infrastructure, advocacy, and other urban cycling initiatives? What are we thinking?
Well there is enough interest and talent among the most fervent advocates of SaltCycle and urban cycling culture to create a team that will be competitive in the 2012 racing season. We'll be entering several small local races and hope to promote the blog and cycling advocacy in Salt Lake City through "advertising" by wearing matching kits at the races.
There are currently 15 members of the team, and we'd like to have 4 or 5 more in order to offer a more diverse talent of riders with specialties (climbing, sprinting, pace-making) and a bit of a competitive urge. We will be ordering our team kit at the end of September. If you would like to be on the team, please come to our Sunday training rides, which start at 8:00 AM at Cakewalk Bakery (434 S 900 E). For more information, please visit SaltCycle's facebook group or visit the Team or Events pages here on the blog.
Please leave a comment below if you are interested, and we can get a hold of you to give you more information about training and clothing ordering dates and costs.
(Note: The green striped and accents on the jersey and bibs are not neon green, as they appear at right. It is a soft, jade green.)
I think they recently changed the rides to 9:00 AM...
