What we have learned: Three months since Brynn Barton hit-and-run

Today marks three months since our friend Brynn Barton was involved in a hit-and-run with a motorist on 700 East which took her life. As if a precursor to many more accidents, hit-and-runs, deaths, and bike thefts in the city in months that followed, Brynn's death was a wake up call for all of us. It helped us to bond and to ride with heightened awareness on the road. We also hope that it has helped motorists to be more aware of and alert for bicyclists.

The city has ramped up bicycle infrastructure and the number of cyclists on the road has increased incredibly in the months since Brynn's death. We are uniting as a community, and as we increase in numbers, we increase in safety. Please be safe out there. Don't be traumatized, but ride safe and be an example for the rest of us. Thanks. Rest in peace, Brynn.
