This Sunday will be the People's Market's first Bike Day. Join with local merchants, farmers, and sustainable food enthusiasts and activists, as well as bicyclists from across the city, for a bicycle ride through the Peace Gardens, along the Jordan River Parking and the 9 Line trail, then back to the People's Market to enjoy vendors, music, and food.
The guided bike ride begins at 11 am and is part of the larger day-long People's Market event, which takes place each Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm (June through October) at the International Peace Gardens (1060 South 900 West, SLC).

International Peace Gardens 1000 South 900 West in Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City, UT, June 19, 2012 – This Sunday ride down to the International Peace Gardens for a Bike Hike through the Peace Gardens, along the Jordan River Parkway, then back to People’s Market to enjoy vendors, music and food. The bike hike begins at 11:00 am with nature guide list of the wonders along the trails.
For seven years, the People’s Market has been dedicated to building a robust food system while encouraging urban micro-farmers, small-scale entrepreneurs, and supporting many new and smaller artisans.
Nanci Faccio of Kuwahara farms is joining the market this week with a bounty of fresh produce, “I'm so excited to bring our fresh products for the public. I will have Cherries, Beets, Carrots, Kale, Swiss Chard, Cabbage, Broccoli, Cilantro, Arugula, and Yellow & Green Zucchini.”
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) offers opportunities for families who receive food stamp benefits to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and other eligible products at the People’s Market. SNAP customers are supported for another season with the 2-for-1 token program when they use an EBT card.
In addition to accepting major credit/debit cards, the token system allows Horizon Card customers to shop at the People’s Market. Visit the People’s Market booth and scan the Horizon Card to redeem wooden tokens. Use your tokens just like cash to buy qualified food products, such as: breads and cereals fruits and vegetables meat, fish and poultry dairy products and food producing seeds and plants.
Each week the People’s Market will present different themes to enhance the community celebration.
