The Westminster Bicycle Collective (facebook and website), a member of the Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective network which includes satellite shops at Westminster, the U of U, Day-Riverside Library, and in Provo and Ogden, is organizing a group ride from campus to graduation on June 2nd at the Maverik Center in West Valley.
"Everyone of any biking level is welcome," said Collective staff. "This is meant to be as fun and accommodating as possible. Last year we had a great turnout and a lot of fun. Let's make it even better this year."
The ride will meet in front of the Environmental Center, located on the Westminster campus in the Walker 1 building. The route to the Maverik Center will be marked with chalk and groups of four to eight people will have lead riders who know the route and have experience from years prior. Several riders will have cargo trailers in tow for robes, extra clothes, and graduates' other belongings. Once at the Maverik Center, free bike valet parking will be provided.
If you plan on riding with the group, free Westminster Wheels bike rentals will also be available at the Environmental Center at the start of the ride. Exact times and more details will be available soon. Be sure to check back on the Westminster Bike Collective facebook for more info.
Side note: The Westminster Bicycle Collective has new summer hours. Staff and volunteers will be willing and able to help you learn how to fix your bike on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11 am to 2 pm. The collective is located on 1200 E just south of 1700 S and west of the NW parking structure. Be sure to like the Collective's page to get more updates.
