Outdoor Retailers comes to town, SaltCycle sponsors cruiser ride Friday

As a staple in Salt Lake City's economy (raking in more than $23 million each year in revenues for Salt Lake City alone) and as a boon to the recreation and tourism industry in Utah, which brings in some $5 billion a year, the Outdoor Retailers Convention is one of the state's busiest and most lucrative expositions.

For the second year running, Green Guru Gear, one of the retailers at this year's ORC, is organizing a cruiser ride through the city, for beginners and experts alike, and to give a chance to all to see our city in a different light: from a bike. Dana Waggener from GGG and our very own Naresh Kumar from SaltCycle have spent hours organizing the ride and it will prove to be excellent.

The ride leaves from the Salt Palace's south entrance at 6:30 pm and will wind through downtown at a comfortable pace, visit some historic sites and local landmarks, make a stop by Liberty Park for a lap around and food from the Chow Truck. Rumors have it that volunteers for the ride get free Chow Truck food as well as swag and networking from various retailers and reps.

The ride is scheduled to last an hour and a half and end at 8 pm. Come support and meet the retailers that  contribute to the economic health of our city and state. Eat food and enjoy one another's company. All are welcome.

In other exciting news, the Outdoor Retailers Convention has signed on to stay in Salt Lake City till at least 2014.
