Bike tour through Europe! Go!

For those who don't know me, I'm currently in Italy and in the next 2 days I am pedaling out the first kilometer of a 6-7 week bike tour through parts of Italy, Czech, and Germany. I'm beyond excited to finally be on a bike again (2 months of very little biking while teaching English and the likes) and I am now mentally and physically preparing for my trip. This included buying a cheap old bike for €50 today from an old man in Torino. Tomorrow I'll be fixing it up a bit and buying the rest of what I need. Who knows what adventures will go down on this li'l ol' thang. I thought I'd share the beast with you folks, including a terrible night shot of the bike (it's 1:30 in the morning my time, give me a break) and a drawing I did on the train today. I'll keep you updated along the way if I can, and until then, safe riding!

  1. If you experience any wrist pain, you might want to look for something like an adjustable stem and ergo drop bars. I've done a few 100+ mile days pulling a trailer with such a setup and it only felt amazing. A saddle change also saved my ass, but the need quickly became painfully obvious; I picked up a Terry (made in Italy), and it's like sitting on heaven.
