Esther Rides a Bike!

Thought I'd follow Davey with an intro to me and my bike! Where to begin... Learned how to ride a two-wheeler without training wheels when I was three. Impressive, I know. About four years ago I bought a bike instead of a car so I could get around faster when I moved downtown...

It was a cheap mountain bike 'cause road bikes looked scary back then. I eventually met some people involved in the bike community and tried out my first road bike, ended up borrowing bikes here and there until I could afford my own. I've now been the proud owner of a little green Mercier fixie for two years, which I ride every day. My sister Carla gave me some awesome risers with pink grips for Christmas and I won the pink chain during a footdown comp. People tell me my spoke cards are lame, but they're one of my favorite parts about my bike 'cause they're reminders of all the awesome events I've been a part of!

  1. Yeah Esther! keep rockin' the spoke cards I say, until you get blown over in strong winds! I like your little fixay, it's the hippinest in town.

I remember your first midnight mass ride on that borrowed roadbike of chelsea's, I always thought you should have kept that bike...

anyway, I just pitched Terry for a women's specific saddle for the alleycat and thought of you. That special one holding up ok?

  2. That was my first time on a road bike, I was so scared!

Well, the saddle was nice at first because the one that initially came on the Mercier wasn't very good, but it's gotten to be really uncomfortable, especially on long rides.

  4. Sorry 'bout the saddle Esther. I wanna learn more about Terry Saddles, they won't sponsor my alleycat though :(.

Sebastian! Go to the Monday volunteer night at the collective, it's how I learned to be a mechanic and has really good vibe. Honestly you can go in and volunteer any night (and even during the day if you contact them), but Monday nights is the best for learning because there are less people and dedicated mechanics to teach you stuff! Open shop is on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, it's a time for people to come in and work on their own bikes. The mechanics are there to help you those nights too, but they're more spread out.
