The Tour of Utah announces participating teams, some riders for August's race

The Tour of Utah is one of the three major, internationally-attended professional bike races in the United States. Tour organizers announced the first eight teams confirmed for the Tour back in April, but just a few days ago, the remaining teams selected were confirmed and announced. Among them,

BMC Racing
Bissell Pro Cycling
Bontrager Livestrong
Champion System Pro Cycling
Competitive Cyclist Racing (Utah team)
EPM-UNE
Garmin-Sharp
Liquigas Cannondale
Omega Pharma-Quickstep
Optum Pro Cycling
Rabobank Cycling
Radioshack-Nissan-Trek
Argos-Shimano
Team Exergy
Team NetApp
Team Spidertech
United Healthcare Pro Cycling

Individual riders of interest include Levi Leipheimer, OFQ (two-time defending champion), Jaan Kirsipuu, ChampSys (four time Tour de France stage winner), and Freddie Rodriguez, Exergy (Giro d'Italia stage winner).

KSL News and Tour of Utah organizers have also released several video with helicopter flyovers and course descriptions for Tour stages for the race along the Wasatch Front in August. Here's one. Check out the rest on the Tour of Utah Vimeo page.

Remember, the Tour of Utah is presenting three Tour de France viewing parties this Wednesday at Megaplex Theatres in Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Lehi. For more info, see the full story here.

In related news, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge (Tour of Colorado is easier, but not the actual name of the race) also announced their full team line up this week, with many of the TOU teams plus a few more famous international teams. The advantage that Colorado has over Utah is that their tour (just weeks later) attracts riders who wish for some more respite after a long Tour de France-Olympic back-to-back bid. The likes of Frank Schleck (3rd Place - 2011 Tour de France) and Cadel Evans (defending Tour de France champion).
