More volunteers needed for next week's Bike Count

Become involved with next week's annual Bike Count
in Salt Lake City. Help to give cyclists a voice by
counting how many of us there are.
Salt Lake City will begin the yearly Bicycle Count next week as part of the National Bicycle/Pedestrian Documentation project. The bike count, observed in many cities nationwide, serves as a meter for determining the increase (or decrease) in bicycle traffic at key intersections.

Andrew Coffey, Salt Lake City's bike count coordinator, has issued the following email. He needs many more volunteers for the bike count, especially next weekend.

"I am coming down to the last few days before the count and need a few volunteers. The help I need is counting bicyclists, tracking their direction of travel, and whether or not they are wearing a helmet. If you are interested in helping, please send me an email, including at what time and location you can help. I realize some of the locations are not “ideal” but even if you can help for an hour, your help will be precious."

Not having volunteers means that bicyclists won't be counted, and therefore, our "official" presence, in numbers on a sheet, will be severely diminished. Please volunteer for as many shifts as you can, and help make Salt Lake City a better city to ride a bike in. Remember, more numbers means more respect and infrastructure. Please help "make us count".
