| After the Farmington Station was left in shambles after Thursday's windstorm, UTA has begun to shuttle commuters and bicyclists between stations (Photo: Tyler Lloyd) |
Northbound commuters, including bicyclists, are encouraged to ride to the Layton Station, some 8 miles north, where UTA will provide a free shuttle back to the Farmington Station. Southbound commuters needing to access the Farmington Station will need to deboard at the Layton Station, and take the same shuttle south to their destination.
The shuttle that UTA is provided is a 10-15 passenger FlexTrans bus that could pose problems if multiple bike commuters expect to use the shuttle at the same time, adding to the already overcrowded shuttles.
Plan to face delays and lack of room on the shuttles, especially during rush hour, when the amount of bikes on the commuter train's bike car often exceed twenty.
UTA expects the Farmington Station to be cleaned up and in service again by Monday, December 5th.
