Construction begins on Jordan River Trail connection between Redwood Rd and Davis County

Coming this fall, a crucial segment of the Jordan River Trail will be paved where hard-packed single track now exists. The segement which spans from about 1800 N & Redwood Rd, where the JRT currently ends, to the Davis County Line, will be a vital piece in the long-distance, multi-county trail that is planned to run continuously from Provo to Ogden within the coming years. Announced in the Department of Transportation weekly report last Friday, Trails Coordinator Dan Bergenthal said,

"Construction on this section of trail is under way and is scheduled to be completed sometime this fall."

Further details to come in the future. But look for this great connector in the coming months, which will allow one to ride continuously on the JRT off-street shared-use path from Sandy to Farmington (the only exception being the three-block gap between 2nd South and North Temple).

In other news, about a mile before the Legacy Parkway Trail ends near the Farmington Frontrunner station in Davis County, there is now a connector between the LPT and the Davis County Rail Trail, making my previous statement invalid. One can travel continuously from Sandy in south Salt Lake valley to Roy, just a few miles outside of Ogden. Now how's that for continuous and efficient long-distance trails?

  1. how many miles is it from Roy to 7800 S. on the Jordan river Parkway? Looking forward to making the ride.

  2. You're looking at about 40 miles on the trail with only one detour between North Temple and 200 S.
