Local bicycle tourists blog about Canadian adventure

"Mary obeyed all the posted rules"
Recently while at Wasatch Touring bike shop (make sure to check out their blog), Evan Howard told me about a husband and wife from Salt Lake that decided one day that they would ride their bikes from the east coast of Canada to Alaska. Here's the catch: they didn't have bikes.

They stopped in to Wasatch Touring, bought a pair of Surly Long Haul Truckers, bags, and the whole bit, and then set off. The description on their blog reads,

Once upon a time, Brad and Mary Burton pedaled off into the Canadian sunset destined for Alaska. This is the tale of the young married couple quitting their jobs and riding bikes, from Maine to Alaska. Thanks for reading and please stay tuned.

Follow their adventures via their blog at www.canada2ak.blogspot.com.

  2. Hey this makes us feel pretty legit. So far we have rode over 3600 miles and we almost know what we are doing now...what a learning curve. Thanks for the post.

  3. Thanks Salt Cycle for the post! Wasatch Touring just got in a shipment of new touring gear including, panniers from Ortlieb and Lone Peak, SPD pedals from shimano and much more... It is a sweet selection! I am also happy to set you up fully with a touring setup.... Evan Howard - Wasatch Touring
