Salt Lake City is endorsing the NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide as a document to regularly be used / consulted for City bikeway projects.
"While we may not always use the NACTO designs in all our projects, we have been actively using this guide since it came out in the spring. Our endorsement represents our intention to continue to consider the 'progressive' bikeway designs in addition to the more standard engineering manuals."
-Becka Roolf
An endorsement statement will be signed by Mayor Becker and Transportation Division Director Tim Harpst in the coming week or so.
Many of the City's pending projects for the 2011 road redesign season will incorporate best possibilities and practices from the NACTO Urban Bikeway Design Guide, including sharrows, buffered bike lanes, bike boxes, and other progressive and bike-friendly facilities.
