Critical Mass

So this isn't specifically about Salt Lake, but it's pretty funny. Do you guys still go? A fellow from SF is coming in this wednesday and wanted to ride mass, I rarely go anymore but am trying to hunt down a 56 and 54 cm bike for him and his girlfriend.

  5. I think the construction of Gallivan Plaza has affected the whole vibe of the ride. As such I have started organizing events at Liberty Oil Park as it is somewhat more accessible. :)

  10. Mass is something I generally avoid, because I don't like confrontations with cars. They're ego-driven and pointless (the confrontations, not the cars...sometimes). The mass this last month was small and friendly but still ended up getting in a fight with a bus... who honked at a couple single bikers in the lane... on a route with a bike lane! There were like 15 people at the mass, and the bus's honks were reasonable considering the situation, but suddenly he's the 'enemy.' I'm sorry, but pounding on the window of a public transit vehicle and declaring that it share the road on a street with a bike lane isn't bike advocacy, it's hooliganary. Hooliganary I support, but not when it takes steps backwards for the image of cyclists.

  11. Oh and Brad, if nobody goes to the sunday rides anymore I'll take 'em off the calender. I just ran into a group of kats one sunday and they told me that's what they were up to, seemed fun, but they must have changed the setup or abandoned it.
