Hey guys. We had a really fun night ride after the Council of Doom premier, but I did a small thing that I wasn't really proud of: Instead of talking to an angry motorist I messed with their car. I went home afterwards and wrote an short story thingie about it, feel free to read it HERE.

Seems like an interesting situation filled with the usual angst and contention between cyclists and motorists. I would however like to attempt to befriend the motorists, despite all the faults in their choice, as if you have the motorists on your side you will likely have less police encounters - and as fun as those can be, I would rather avoid them. However, I don't pretend I can control the masses of cyclists, and I shouldn't - I just hope we don't become the San Francisco Cmass with the self righteous bad asses mingled in.
ReplyDeleteLots of angry bicycle situations. An acquaintance of mine got into a fist fight with a driver while riding their bicycle around the city. I rode my tallie today and a kid kept squirting me with a water gun, so I spit on him and rode off.

Oh my god did you really do that Zed? I read that and snorted out loud haha. Davey, you're an amazing writer. You've got a very modern style. As for the content, I wish we had caught up with you guys so I could've witnessed it, but it sounds like you somewhat regret the way you handled it...I have to admit sometimes I really enjoy getting in fights with drivers, and don't think about asking philosophical questions afterwards, someone's got to though :)

ReplyDelete...it feels like lately motorists have been messing with bikers more and more. usually, when i hear someone yell something while im riding it doesnt really bother me. but i guess someone really bugged me on friday afternoon and i spat in their face at pointblank range a few intersections later. it ended up being quite an experience
