Freak bikes are freak'n awesome. Nay, any bicycle weld mod is freak'n awesome. With this in mind I would like to set out to create something to create welded bicycles of various splendor. I would like to create a Salt Lake City Bike Chop Shop. Currently I am in discussions about possible locations to house this project, but more readily, I need some contributions for a welder:

120 Amp, 230 Volt MIG and Flux Welder For use with or without gas. Welds mild steel from 22 gauge to 3/16".
* Comes with welding torch, two tips (0.030", 0.040"), grounding cord with clamp, brush/hammer,
handheld welding mask and manual
* Duty cycle: 20% @ 115 amps, 40% at 75 amps, 90% at 50 amps, 100% at 30 amps
* Welding current range: 30-120 amps
* Draws 15 amps @ 230 volts
* Maximum open circuit voltage: 36 volts COST w/ SHIPPING: $262
I would like to house this at DBR's place as its a great location bridge between the city and county, and not far from the SLC Bicycle Collective. However, if we do place it at this location we will all need to help him build a welding shed/workbench, along with any other tasks it would take to find a home for the welder.
So we need a welder, and we need to build a place for it. If no one replies, no one contributes, then this project will be considered dead. However, if enough interest is generated we will create the Salt Lake City Bike Chop Shop and bring unimaginable bicycle culture to the Salt. Look for a paypal donation link and drive to collect funds if there is enough interest.
Reply if you are interested in contributing work and/or money for this project.
