I'm brand new to this site (just posted up my event on the critical mass site) and love seeing these old pics!
Some of them are familiar and in my family, originals. The Coles family runs generations in SLC. My great grandfather opened Coles Electric & Bicycles. Later they added 'Mercantile' to it. He raced then wrenched at the velodrome from 1905-1909'ish I believe. Those snaps of the 17th ward building...he/fam helped with electrical...as with that old clock downtown...4th south??
Anyway, I'm rambling....just love seeing early roots! I'm back in Reno/Tahoe these days but visit Zion 2-3 times a year. My event, SCALLEYCAT.com is coming up...hope you guys can make it and thanks Zed for that article and photos!!
Awesome. There really is a renewed interest in the velodrome culture of yore.
ReplyDeleteThat's so way cool!
